Appreciate the help.

Hi! I don't know if you still check this or not because I've noticed that most updates are from 2008. I have taken the Ohio bar exam 3 times (one of the hardest states). The scaled score needs to be 405 and I received 400, 383 (better performance but with a really tough scale of only 60% passing), and this past time 396 (with a really easy scale of 81% passing). The first two tests, I did average on the essays but really poorly on the MBE (108 and 109 raw). The third time, I only studied for a short time (less than a month) and I got a 118 raw (using Beat-the-Bar), but really went down on the essays (I was trying the Essay Advantage strategies). My 118 raw on the MBE gave me a 137 scaled score, which is a big improvement for me and qualifies me to waive into several states.

Since you have taken it several times and have passed, I think even taken different states (?), I wondered if you have any pointers for me in that regard? I could take Ohio for the fourth time but after 3 times I'm no closer to passing, except that I'd have more time to spend on it and am doing better on the MBE. Or I could transfer my score to another jurisdiction and take essay only. Do you know anything about the essay exams in other states? Geographically, you are not so far from Wyoming - do you know anything about that exam or anyone who took it? I'm considering Wyoming, Connecticut, D.C., and Vermont. But the only ones I would want to live in are Wyoming or D.C. (because my husband hates the cold and the New England states are too cold), and I plan to stay in Ohio for a while first. The thing that makes me worry about the other states is that Ohio tests on almost everything you study, so you have many chances to prove yourself, but some of the other states (D.C. and Vermont I think) give you a lot more to study than you are actually tested on, so it makes me think if you have a weak subject, you are out of luck.

Any thoughts? I'm still deciding what to do!

Thanks!

Hi mate,

nice post, enjoy it thoroughly. I will do everything you said except the red PMBR because I might use this adaptibar.com - kinda pricey though but seems good.

If you could send me your outline stevelimhs@gmail.com I would greatly appreciate it. I won't mind sending you mine but you might have passed :)

So I just took the CO bar exam and I forgot to do the AM PT - just completely forgot it! Am I totally screwed? I know it's worth 10% of the entire exam and PTs are easy points! I know I did well on the AM essays and I did well on two PM essays, okay on one, sort of crappy on one, and okay on the PM PT. I also suspect I crushed the MBEs (I studied the MBE portion like crazy since the MBE section is worth 50% of the CO bar). So what does everyone think? Will forgetting to do a PT kill my chances or can you recover from that with a slam dunk on the MBEs (130-140 raw)?
